Lazy Girl's Guide to Dressing Well in Under 5 Minutes

Hi lovelies! I hope you've been blessed with crisp, nice fall weather rather than freezing rain and darkness like moi for the past few days. I've recently been searching on tumblr (I refuse to rejoin the Pinterest cult) and just online in general for lazy day outfits. Except I don't like lazy day outfits like sweatpants. I still need to look put together, just not feel like it. I know some other people have to feel this way too; I think I've just been conditioned to look somewhat decent at all times. So here are tried-and-true classy yet effortless outfit ideas!

1. White T shirt

I literally cannot stress the importance of having a white tee that is comfy. If you don't have one, I want you to go out to H&M or Gap and just buy like three because these are life savers. I know whenever I'm running late and I don't have any outfits in mind, I run to a white tee like peanut butter runs to jelly. White t shirts are the quintessential basic; you can dress them up with a blazer or cardigan, layer it with a scarf and a jacket or just casually half tuck it into a pair of jeans and bedhead hair and leave (the latter is me on 95% of all days).

I LITERALLY HAVE 5 MINUTES:

  • white tee
  • jeans
  • flats/cute statement shoes to distract from the mess that is inevitably my hair
Eh I have some more time:

  • white tee
  • skirt
  • long cardigan
  • scarf
  • ankle boots/oxfords
It's freezing outside:

  • white tee
  • parka
  • jeans
  • fuzzy socks
  • combat boots
  • scarf
  • hat

I made a set on Polyvore in case any of you wanted to see these in action.

2. Chambray

Okay, seriously another investment piece that you will so not regret. Lazy days don't even look lazy with a chambray. The button-down makes it more structured and you'll look like you tried, especially if the chambray has a groovy pattern like polka dots or stars or something. And chambrays look great layered under a military jacket or grandpa cardigan. Go crazy.

WHY DID I HIT SNOOZE SO MUCH:
  • chambray
  • black jeans
  • flats/boots/oxfords
3. Sweater + Scarf

Dude, you'll be the epitome of comfy. I swear by this combination for freezing days in the Midwest, especially if you own a lot of thick sweaters and scarves like me. And a cute bun ties the whole "I tried, but not too hard and I'm comfier than you" look together.

IT'S -12 OUTSIDE BUT I WANNA BE CUTE

  • grandpa sweater
  • super thick and comfy infinity scarf
  • leggings (unless you want to wear actual pants, then go ahead)
  • thick socks (YACTRAX for life)
  • boots

Another Polyvore set for you guys! It's the chambray and the sweater together because I'm too lazy to separate them, hence my self-proclaimed title of lazy.

4. Dresses

Dresses are my lifesavers. I would never look half as semi-decent as I do at school without dresses. They literally take two minutes to put, you can accessorize the poop out of them or leave them plain, wear them in all seasons (screw sundress season, I'll wear mine in January). This is my second to last resort besides the white tee. But really, I love dresses.

I LOOK CUTER THAN YOU BUT I GOT MORE SLEEP:

  • LBD
  • sweater
  • tights
  • ankle booties

and the last Polyvore set.

Okay, those were some of my ideas for dressing well in a rush. Even lazy girls can afford to look decent, or at least by my standards. Take those extra minutes that you don't have to spend getting ready to get a pumpkin spice latte or other drink that will warm your insides into a little pile of euphoric mush. Enjoy and get your lazy girl on!

Mini Fashion Haul

Hi my lovelies! I have a little fashion haul for you guys today! I went shopping yesterday with the hope to find black jeans, but yet all I really found were black jeggings. Jeggings are okay but not ideal especially since they're not allowed at school and it was super obvious with the soccer legs. So I didn't actually get black jeans but I got some other things!

So first I got red TOMS, just because you know. They're nice and I thought I should get a classic color, but not exactly black or navy. So those are nice.

And I also got a chambray shirt. It's light blue with small white polka dots and it has two pockets that have buttons.

And the last thing I got was this dress that is gorgeous for spring/summer. It's this teal dress and the top is chiffon-like and smooth, and then there is a string that is supposed to function as a belt, and the bottom is pleated. It's really cute. So it looks like this dress but the top is more chiffon-y and smooth. The teal isn't really shown in this picture but it looks similar to this.

Okay so that's my mini fashion haul, and hopefully I'll have some more posts up soon! Love you guys, XOXO

Oxblood and Oxfords: This Season's Trends

Hi! So I don't usually do fashion blogs but I decided "Eh, what the heck." Especially since the supposed apocalypse is supposed to happen tomorrow. If that does happen and it ends being like The Host, and I'm left, I want to be left with someone hot like Ryan Reynolds. Or Bradley Cooper. Just putting it out there. Anyway I just wanted to talk about this winter's trends and my yay/nay on them.

1. Oxblood
Okay so first off the name is weird, which I automatically like, but after a few minutes of googling, it doesn't seem to be the actual color of ox blood like from the cow-like animals. So I think dark colors like burgundy, gray, and dark purple are always "in" for the fall/winter season, but this is the ideal color for now at least. It's a wine-y, burgundy-maroon fusion and seems to match well with, well, everything. I've seen it as the hot new shade for riding boots/booties, scarves, blouses, jeans, EVERYTHING. I actually really like it though, especially as a scarf maybe with a slouchy, oversized cream sweater and leggings. Anyway, onto the next trend..

2. Oxfords
So I really really love these. These are a must-have for any woman with class, and I am a total sucker for these. Something about the clean-cut feeling and girly classiness of them just draws me in. I really like the ones from Delia's and just about any other non-chunky pair. The patterned ones with the slight colorblock are really nice, and I've seen a lot of people with them. And the heels are always a plus too.

3. Booties
I didn't know for a long time what booties really were, but now I think I have a pretty good general idea to go off of. They're the short boots, usually go up to your ankles and sometimes have a little roll-over thingy on them. Anyway, they are really cute and go with generally everything from what I've seen. I should really consider getting a pair; I have been eyeing a pair from Zappos that are black with a paisley pattern on the folded over side. They really need a common name for that.

4. Crewnecks
COMFORT IS IDEAL IN MY CLOSET. SO IS LOOKING CUTE. And crewnecks are the closest solution I have for this. They're warm, go well with jeans, and can elevate you from bum status to casually cute effortlessly. Needless to say, they are my winter staple. Actually my all-year staple. And the ones from Forever and American Apparel are on point.

5. Cardigans
You can never have enough of these, they're like the basic but best layering piece in the whole entire world. Stick a button-down and one of these babies together and bam! You're ready to head out and look chic at the same time. Bam! Cue my cheesy confession time: I actually really like Old Navy and Gap for cardigans even though Old Navy is full of preteen girls and Gap is on the verge of closing in my town. I don't know, cardigans can be found everywhere just like if you're a nurse looking for a job. Just saying.

6. Chambray
Okay this is the last one because I want to go watch Elf.These denim-y button down shirts are PERFECT. I don't know what else to say about them because they are so great. Grrrrrr-eat. Like that one cereal with the tiger, corn flakes or something like that?

Okay so I hope you've enjoyed reading this. If not, cool. If so, yay! Yeah I just realized I have nothing I don't like on this list. Sorry! Anyway, I hope the world doesn't end, if it doesn't it's not the end of the world (HAHA! Punny, see what I did there?) and travel safe and have a good holiday season. Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah/Happy Kwanza.
